LeBreton Flats is located west of Centretown, bordered by the Ottawa River, Sir John A. Macdonald Parkway, and along Albert and Slater Streets. Within its boundaries are notable landmarks such as the Canadian War Museum, the National Holocaust Monument, and Pimisi LRT Station.
Named after Lieutenant John LeBreton, one of Nepean Township’s first settlers in 1819, LeBreton Flats was a booming community in the mid-19th century, serving the lumber mills on nearby Chaudière and Victoria Islands. With the arrival of the railway came industries and housing that supported the growing community. Over the years, LeBreton Flats has continued to evolve, welcoming new homes, modern condominiums, and now an advanced LRT system running alongside it.
Residents of LeBreton Flats are within walking distance of Pimisi Station on the LRT, providing quick connections west to Tunney’s Pasture or through downtown to the east end at Blair Station. For students attending the University of Ottawa, the LRT offers the fastest and most convenient route with a station directly beside campus. Those heading to Carleton University can take the LRT to Bayview Station and transfer to the O-Train, which goes directly to the campus.
